Katherine A. Seaney, age 88, of Richmond, Indiana, died Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Reid Health.
Born February 10, 1932, in Richmond, Indiana, to George and Mary Bell Pope, Katherine was a life-long resident of this community. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1950. Katherine worked at Knollenberg’s Department Store before starting her family. When her kids were in school, she was active in PTO and served as a room mother. Katherine was a member of First United Methodist Church and had been a member of the former Faith Trinity United Methodist Church until it closed. She enjoyed participating in her Thursday morning bowling league for many years and was a train enthusiast, who enjoyed taking several train trips out West with her family. Katherine was the designated photographer for all family events and gatherings, leaving memories to cherish for years to come. She had the uncanny ability to remember all her family’s birthdates, birth weights, birth heights, and anniversary dates. Katherine loved watching her grandkids after school, and one of her greatest blessing was witnessing the birth of her great-granddaughter. She was always kind and full of laughter and will be remembered for her beautiful smile.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda (Douglas) Johnston of Richmond; sons, Michael (Mary Ann) Seaney of Seymour, Indiana, and James Seaney and Ronald Seaney, both of Richmond; grandchildren, David Seaney (Ashley Johnson) of Seymour and Megan Johnston (Jay Maris) of Richmond; great-grandchildren, Lucas Seaney of Seymour and Cassidy Moran of Richmond; sister-in-law, Delores Pope of Richmond; brother-in-law, Tom Heck of Cedar Grove, Indiana; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Myrle E. Seaney, who died April 2, 2015; parents; sister, Jennifer Chaney; and brother, Donald Pope.
