Lucille Wanda “Mammie” Pippin, Richmond, was born June 15, 1935, in Rockcastle, Kentucky, the daughter of Herman and Letha (Allen) Abney.
Lucille Wanda Abney Pippin died peacefully on Sunday, December 6, 2020, at Reid Health. She was known as “Lucy” to her friends and co-workers; as she was known as “Wanda” to her brothers and sisters. Most of all she was known as “Mammie” to all her grandbabies; and she was known as “Wimmie” to her nieces and nephews.
Wanda was born in Rockcastle, Kentucky, but was a lifelong resident of Richmond, Indiana, for 80 years. She retired from Belden with 25 years of service in 1992. She loved her family very much especially her grand/great grandbabies. She loved her flowers, putting out a garden, listening to country music and most of all fixing her “Truck Stop Breakfast”.
She is survived by four sons: Robbie (Thereasa) Miller, Mike Miller, Mitch (Becki) Miller, all of Cambridge City, IN, and Jeff Miller of Connersville, IN; two daughter-in-law’s; Belinda Hampton Miller of Richmond, IN, and Dori Udisky Miller of Centerville, IN; grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and two brothers: Amos (Carol) Abney of Centerville, IN, and Bill (Cathy) Abney of Harrodsburg, KY. She also leaves special friends: Bob and Ellen Alderson, Dewey Malicoat, Teresa, and two former daughter-in-law’s: Kathy Miller and Kim Miller.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by three sons: David, Danny and Mark Miller; one brother: Herman Abney Jr; two sisters: Janice “Jan” Richey and Ruth Bufford; and a great granddaughter.
The family would like to express special thanks to daughter-in-law, Belinda Miller for the love and care that she gave Wanda known as “Mammie”.
Funeral services will be held at Community Family Funeral Home on Monday, December 14, 2020, at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Jim Slaven officiating. Family and friends may visit Monday at the funeral home two hours prior to the service. Masks and social distancing is required. Interment will be in Crown Hill cemetery, Centerville, Indiana.
