RICHMOND, Ind. – Martha Jean “Marty” Ronan, age 65, of Richmond, Indiana, died unexpectedly Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at her home.
Born July 31, 1952, in Richmond, Indiana, to Charles William and Martha Louise Smith Ronan Sr., Marty grew up in Richmond. She was a swim instructor and lifeguard for the YWCA during high school. After graduating from Richmond High School, Marty moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan, at age 19. She began working as a secretary and later worked her way through nursing school becoming first an LPN and then an RN, specializing in hemodialysis. Marty traveled throughout the country helping many hospitals establish a hemodialysis program. She moved back to Richmond in 2013. Marty was a member of Centerville Christian Church and a 30 year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her family says Marty was a fun and strong woman, who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her son, Sean (Stacy) Ronan of Richmond; grandchildren, Keegan and Emma Ronan; sisters, Judy Copeland of Richmond and Barbara Abbring of Bradenton, Florida; brother, Charles (Dorothy) Ronan of Richmond; cousin, Darrell (Wanda) Ronan of Richmond; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers-in-law, Tom Abbring and Bill Copeland.
A memorial visitation for Martha Jean “Marty” Ronan will be from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2018, at Centerville Christian Church, 111 North Morton Ave., Centerville. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2018, at Centerville Christian Church with Pastor Terry Cochran officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
