Patrick Ray “Pat” Corn, age 61, a New Castle resident, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2020 at his residence following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 27, 1958 in Rushville, Indiana, a son of the late Lloyd and Vivian Ruble Corn.
He had resided in Rush County and New Castle for most of his life. After graduating from high school, he entered the military service and served 33 years in the Army, Army Reserves, and the Army National Guard. Pat served a tour of duty in Boznia and also served with the U.S. Army in assisting those who suffered during Hurricane Katrina. Pat was a recipient of many military awards and recognitions and was a member of the American Legion. He was retired as a foreman in the Transportation Department for the State of Indiana. Pat owned and operated a repair business who always had his “heart” open to help anyone in need especially, without charge, he often assisted widows who entrusted him with their home repairs.
He loved family activities, especially vacations. He enjoyed fishing and was very supportive of his children in all of their activities and in recent years was very visible at all of his son Louie’s activities, especially football. Pat was also a crossing walk guard for New Castle Schools and viewed this job as another way to assist children. The children loved him and he was an encouragement to them.
Left to cherish his loving memory include his wife, Michelle Diane Thompson Corn; four children, Kelly Watson, Ryan Corn (Stacey), Misty Morgan-Corn (fiancé, Nick Rhodes), Louie Corn, all of New Castle; four grandchildren, Brooklyn, Bryce, and Briella Watson, Dravyn Murray; two sisters, Bonita Brewer (Ray) of Manila, Indiana and Sandy Fussner (Mike) of Rushville, Indiana; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth Corn; two sisters, Pamela Wilson and Carolyn “Susie” Jarbo.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Macer-Hall-Marcum & Moffitt Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad Street with Bishop Ray Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Garden, New Castle. Friends may call Thursday, 11:00 until service time at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Funeral directors and staff are honored to serve the Patrick “Pat” Corn family.
