CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Billy L. Dillon, age 93, of Centerville, Indiana, died Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Reid Health.
Born May 15, 1924, in Wayne County, Indiana, to Albert L. and Josie Mae Lammott Dillon, Billy was a life-long resident of Wayne County. He served in the U.S. Army. Billy was a mechanic who retired from the Wayne County Highway Department in 1989, after 10 years of service. He had formerly worked at Warfield Oil Company/GMC for 20 years and Richmond Auto Electric for over 14 years.
Billy was a member of the Centerville Christian Church, where he was proudly involved since 1946. He was a former member and past president of the Centerville Lions Club and had served on the Centerville Town Council for over 16 years, including eight years as president.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda L. (Edmond) Strom of Fairfield, Ohio; three grandsons, Brian L. (Sarah) Strom of Fairfield, Ohio, Douglas E. (Bethany) Bishop of Beech Grove, Indiana, and Philip L. (Brittany) Bishop of Cincinnati, Ohio; eight great-grandchildren, Tyler, Rebecca, Hope, Breeley, Eliana, and Jay Bishop and Madeline and Dillon Lloyd Strom; son-in-law, Rick Bishop of Indianapolis, Indiana; cousin, Bettie (Reid) Jones of Milton, Indiana; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie “Marge” Dillon, who died on May 14, 2015; daughter, Brenda S. Bishop; grandson, Andrew J. Bishop; great-grandsons, Elijah L. and Levi J. Strom; parents; siblings, Donald, Dorotha, and Omer; and nephew, Gerry Dillon.
The family would like to thank nephew Clifford Study for all of the help and support he gave to Billy during the last few years.
Visitation for Billy L. Dillon will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
