Larry F. Hanning, “Moose”, 78, of New Castle, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2020.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, William R. and Mary P. Hanning; three brothers and one sister, as well as his wife and the mother of his children, Caroline S. Hanning.
Larry was born on July 25, 1942 in New Castle, Indiana, and graduated from Chrysler High School in 1960. He earned the rank of E5 in the U.S. Army serving from 1963 – 1966 during the Vietnam War. After his service to our country, he was a meat cutter for Marsh Supermarkets and then spent his remaining working years as a semi-truck driver before retiring in 2000. Larry enjoyed being a foster grandparent, fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, and riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by his son, Cody Hanning (Katrina) of Springport; three daughters, Kynietha Buckler of Boaz, AL, Kayla Kendall of Kentucky, and Kanetta Denk (Rob) of Brandon, FL. Larry was proud to be grandfather to eight, great-grandfather to 10, and the proud uncle to numerous, nieces, and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all including his beloved dog, Daisy.
Friends may call from 4 – 8 pm Thursday, September, 17, 2020 at Sproles Family Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, September 18, 2020 at the funeral home with Pastor Brett Rains officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Christian Cemetery in Springport with military honors conducted by contingents from the US Army, the American Legion, and the VFW.
