Six area police departments responded to a report of a home invasion in Cambridge City.
At about 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, Cambridge City Police Department received a call reporting a home invasion in the 300 block of West Main Street.
Upon officers’ arrival, CCPD Chief Richard Roberts spoke to the homeowner, who was a few houses away.
The homeowner told Roberts that she heard a noise in the hallway, so she went to investigate.
She said the intruder was walking down the stairs toward her. Once the homeowner and intruder saw each other, she turned and ran back into another room, and the intruder fled back upstairs, Roberts said in a news release.
The woman grabbed her two children and quickly exited the home and fled to her neighbor’s house. She was unsure at the time if the intruder was still inside. She said she believed the person gained access through an upstairs window.
As other officers arrived, the house was cleared using K9 Andor from Hagerstown Police Department.
No one was located in the residence. It was also later determined that no items were missing from the home.
The intruder was said to be approximately 6’ 2” or 6’ 3” tall, wearing all-black clothing, a ski mask, boots and gloves. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact CCPD at (765) 478-1231.
CCPD received assistance from Hagerstown and Centerville police departments, Indiana State Police, Indiana State Excise Police and Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.
