Larry R. Baker, 69, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, December 7, 2017 in Cambridge City. He was born October 10, 1948 in Indianapolis, a son of the late Paul and Berniece (Brouhard) Baker.
A graduate of Decatur High School, Larry retired from the City of Richmond, following over 37 years of employment, and was Superintendent of the Wastewater Treatment Plant there when he retired. He was a 4-H leader in Wayne County for 24 years, where he was leader of the Udder Kaos Goat Club. He had a big heart and was regarded as a hero by his grandsons. He enjoyed fishing, tractors, his 4-H family, and did everything he could to help his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Patty Baker, of New Castle, whom he married March 30, 1990; a daughter, Tina Lantz of Indianapolis; grandsons, Dylan, Luke, and Aiden Napier, all of New Castle, and their dad, Wayne Napier of New Castle; granddaughters, Tameka Napier and Shelby Jones; great grandsons, Kingston Scott Walker and Kylan Christopher Ray Napier; a sister, Alice “Cook” (Butch) Smith of Camby; brothers, Buddy (Sandi) Baker of Greenfield, and Carl (Sherry) Baker of Clayton; brother-in-laws, Larry (Debi) Roberts of Indianapolis, and Roger (Brenda) Roberts of Whiteland; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two nephews and a niece.
Services were Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial follow in Brick Cemetery near Hagerstown.
