Roger Dean Showalter, 67, a Connersville native, went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 3, 2020, at his residence in New Point, Decatur County, Indiana.

He was born October 11, 1952, in Connersville, one of three children of Frederick L. and Betty L. (Woods) Showalter. Roger was raised on the family farm in the Springersville area with his parents and his two sisters.

Roger always loved the lifestyle of living in the country and being outdoors. He loved to hunt mushrooms, tending to animals, and going antiquing. Roger also enjoyed traveling, especially to the western United States.

A 1971 graduate of Connersville High School, he went on to work at D & M of Connersville until enlisting with the U.S. Army. While serving his country, he was stationed most of his Army career in Germany.

Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Connersville and was re-employed at D & M and later at Freudenberg of Shelbyville.

As a young man, Roger accepted the Lord as his Savior and throughout the years faithfully worshiped his Lord.

Survivors include a daughter, Amanda (Lee) Lancaster of New Point, Indiana; a son, James Showalter of Shelbyville, Indiana; three grandchildren, Braden Lancaster, Austin Lancaster, and Taylor Lancaster; two sisters, Linda K. (Thomas) Hendrix and Valerie J. Showalter, both of Connersville; two nephews, Brad Hendrix of Kennard, Indiana, and Justin Hendrix of Connersville; a niece, Natalie (Jeremy) Spicer of Hagerstown; three great-nieces, Makenzie, Madison, and Olivia; and two great-nephews, Jacob and Asher.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, 1704 Grand Avenue, Connersville, with Reverend Donnie Bates officiating. Burial will follow with military rites at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020, until the time of the service.
