Doris J. Conrad, 89, of Connersville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 3, 2020, at her residence in Noblesville, Indiana.
One of seven children, she was born on August 11, 1930 to Clifford and Lucile (McQuiston) Sanders.
She graduated from Brownsville High School in 1948, and she received her B.S. degree in education from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky in 1952. She began her career as an elementary teacher in Brownsville, Indiana, where she taught for two years. She then taught for two years in Richmond, two years in San Diego, California, and lastly, she taught for fifteen years in Livonia, Michigan until retiring in 1975.
On February 17, 1962, Doris married Gerald R. Conrad, a native of Connersville, at Mt. Olivet Methodist Church in Dearborn, Michigan. Gerald and Doris came back to live in Connersville the year after her retirement in 1976.
A faithful member of Connersville Baptist Church since 1976, Doris served as the Cards Clerk, the first grade Sunday school teacher, and as head of a church bereavement committee.
In her leisure, Doris loved to read, visit her family, and spend time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed volunteering with the Fayette Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald R. Conrad; three children, Steven J. (Susan) Conrad of Holt, Michigan, Daniel C. (Denise) Conrad of Westfield, Indiana, and Karen J. (Kenneth) DePeal, also of Westfield; three grandchildren, Mason (Aly) DePeal of Stafford, Virginia, Marcus DePeal of Indianapolis, and Jacob Conrad of Indianapolis; and a sister, Helen Manes of Los Angeles, California. She is also blessed with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Martha Bullard, Ruth Downey, and Mary Wade, and two brothers, Howard Sanders and John Sanders.
Friends and family may call from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2020, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Reverend Ken DePeal and Pastor Marcus DePeal will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.
