CAMBRIDGE CITY- David Allen “Dave” Munchel, 70, of Cambridge City, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield, Indiana. He was born July 28, 1947 in Richmond, Indiana to Clarence and Martha (Rottinghaus) Munchel.
Dave grew up in Bath, Indiana and graduated from Union High School in College Corner, Ohio in 1965. After graduation, he joined the Air Force and served four years including serving in the Vietnam War. Following his service in the military, Dave returned home to Indiana, where he began his career with AT&T and Hancock Telecom. He retired in 2007 following over 30 years with the telephone company. Dave loved spending time with his friends and family telling stories and making those around him laugh. He took great pride in his sons and loved being Pops to his grandsons.
Left to cherish his loving memory include his wife of 39 years, Linda (Derrett) Munchel of Cambridge City. They were married in Indianapolis on September 2, 1978: his two sons, Kevin Munchel of Cambridge City and Jeff (Grady) Munchel of Greenfield; his two grandsons, Blake and Connor Munchel of Greenfield; two brothers, Tom (Brenda) Munchel and Mike (Doris) Munchel, both of Cambridge City; his sister, Melanie (Rick) Hamm, of Richmond; several nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Martha Munchel and infant brother, Kevin Munchel.
Per Dave’s request, there will be no public service. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
