RICHMOND, Ind. – Jack Edelman, age 92, of Richmond, Indiana, died Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at his home.
Born May 22, 1925, in New York, New York, to Abraham and Leah Resnick Edelman, Jack lived in this area most of his life. He graduated from Fort Wayne Central High School in 1952. Jack served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the Corps of Engineers. He was also All Army light heavyweight champion, was captain of the water polo team, played football, and ran a low four minute mile. Jack owned and operated the Recycling Center, Inc. in Richmond, Franklin Iron and Metal Corp. in Dayton, Ohio, First Street Recycling, Inc. in Dayton, Ohio, and Springfield Recycling LLC in Springfield, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Debra Kushner Edelman; sister, Ruth Klein of Indianapolis, Indiana; brother, Morrie (Janice) Edelman of Richmond; nephews, David (Sonya) Edelman of Richmond and Mark (Pam) Klein and Matt (Lydia) Klein, both of Indianapolis; other nieces and nephews; and many friends and employees.
He was preceded in death by his son, Israel “Izzy” Edelman; parents; brothers, Israel and Joshua Edelman; and brother-in-law, Arthur Klein.
Service for Jack Edelman will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Burial will follow in Earlham Cemetery.
