DUBLIN – Betty Eileen (Paul) Lakes, formerly of Dublin, went to be with the Lord on Monday October 23, 2017.
Betty was born April 15, 1931 to the late Alma Mae (Harris) and William Alpheus Paul. She grew up in New Lisbon and graduated from New Lisbon High School in 1949.
Betty married Ralph Lakes in Dublin on February 23, 1951. She resided in Dublin for 55 years before moving to Indianapolis in 2014.
Betty was a homemaker. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, knitting and reading. She was a dependable babysitter, first with her nieces and nephews and then her grandchildren. She was a member of the New Lisbon Christian Church.
Betty is survived by a brother, John Paul of New Lisbon; three daughters, Janet Kay (Wayne) Gettinger of Hagerstown, Jane Ann (Albert) Lay of Indianapolis and Nancy Jo (Steve) McNew of Straughn; 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchild one on the way; 2 great-grandsons; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ralph; two daughters, Lana Denise and Joanna Sue Sherwood; son in-law, Kevin Sherwood; two sisters, Mary Thomas and Ruth Query; brother, Harold Paul.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m. on Friday October 27, 2017 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Son in-law Al Lay will officiate. Burial will follow at the South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin.
