Donald Howard Evans, previously of Sulphur Springs, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Golden Living Center, Muncie.

He was born August 29, 1933 in Byrdstown, TN, the son of the late Fred W. and Mary A. (Huddleston) Evans.

Don was a 1954 graduate of Chrysler High School. He served in the Army from 1955 to 1957. Don retired from Chrysler in 1993.

Don was preceded in death by his wife of forty-seven years Phyllis Sue (Cox) Evans, his parents, his sister Lois Teague, brothers Morris, David, and Norman Evans and his sisters-in-law Tomiko Evans and Joanne Evans.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Gayle (husband Chris) Williams of Yorktown, Lynn (husband Mike) Murray of Anderson; six grandchildren, Ryan (wife Stephanie) Painter, Molly Williams, Laura Williams, Stephen Murray, Kristin (husband Rocky) Lyons and Matt Murray along with several great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, James (Florence) Evans of Washington, Billy (Debbie) Evans, and Hollis Evans of New Castle along with several nieces and nephews.

Due to the current Corona Virus restrictions, family may call from 2:30 -3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2020 at Mount Summit Cemetery in Mt. Summit, Indiana with a brief service following.
Military honors will be conducted.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Heather, Sharon, Dawn, Bryanna, Michelle, Susan, Sandy, Abby, Anne and many others at Golden Living Center for the kind and compassionate care they provided. A special thank you to Cheryl and Marilyn for the loving companionship they gave. He was a happy, smiling person because of those that took the time to help him, talk with him, and acknowledge he was loved even when his disease took over his mind and body.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations in Don’s memory be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Indiana; 225 N Michigan Ave., Fl 17, Chicago IL 60601.
