On Friday morning, Wayne County has increased its number of COVID-19 cases and has now had its second death. Wayne County Health Department has received a total of 23 presumptive positive cases among Wayne County residents.
Wayne County Health Officer Dr. David Jetmore said the resident, who was in her late 80s, died outside a hospital.
Fayette County announced a fourth COVID-19 related death and has 21 cases.
According to the Fayette County Health Department, the patient was in his or her 90s and had been released from the hospital to home. No further information will be released about the patient because of privacy laws.
Franklin County went from 75 cases to 87 on Friday. Henry County has 26, Randolph County has 10 and Union County remains at six.
Marion County leads the state with 3,518 cases.
As of April 17, Indiana has 10,154 COVID cases.
There have been 519 related deaths in the state, according to Indiana State Department of Health. Hoosiers have received 54,785 tests.
Nearly 22 percent of ICU beds in the state are being used by COVID patients, with 31.5 percent being used for non-COVID cases.
In terms of ventilator usage, nearly 14 percent of ventilators are in use for COVID cases and 10.8 percent of ventilators are being used for non-COVID patients.
Reid
As of 3:30 p.m. April 16, Reid Health has received 40 lab-confirmed positive COVID-19 tests, and has 43 patients in containment areas at the hospital.
A total of 383 COVID tests have been submitted for processing.
Because of the lag time in state-reported data, Reid Health is sharing with the community its own data.
This data no longer includes the number of negative tests results as studies are showing a relatively high “false negative” outcome of testing.
