From Dolly Parton to Daddy Warbucks, Richmond Civic Theatre offers a mix of familiar and fresh plays this year.
The season opened earlier this fall than usual, with the first show, “1776: The Musical,” concluding its run Sunday, Aug. 16. Shows take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at 1003 E. Main St., Richmond.
RCT offers five Main Stage and three Stage One Youth Theatre productions in 2026-27. Packages of flex tickets are now available. Individual seats go on sale shortly before each show.
Main Stage
- Aug. 13-16: “1776” dramatizes America’s Founding Fathers’ intense political struggles. They persuaded reluctant colonies to vote for separation from Britain but made significant compromises.
- Dec. 10-13, 17-20: After escaping the orphanage to find her parents, billionaire Oliver Warbucks takes in the red-headed orphan “Annie” over the holidays.
- Feb. 4-7: “The Smell of the Kill” is a dark comedy about three unhappy suburban wives. When their arrogant husbands lock themselves in a freezer, the women decide whether to save them.
- April 8-11: In a series of funny, charming vignettes, “Almost, Maine” spotlights love and loss on a magical night beneath the Northern Lights.
- April 29-May 2 and May 6-9: Three female workers unite and mistakenly kidnap their boss in “9 to 5: The Musical,” accompanied by Dolly Parton songs. The trio makes changes when taking control of the office.
Stage One
- Sept. 18-20, 25-27: When Wednesday Addams falls in love with a “normal” boy, chaos ensues as “The Addams Family” meets his family.
- Nov. 6-8: Four siblings enter the magical world of Narnia in “The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe” and try to end an evil witch’s reign.
- March 12-14 and 19-21: An orphan discovers friends in a magical peach in “James and the Giant Peach Jr.” as well as courage, friendship and belonging.

Several play readings are recorded and air on WECI 91.5FM throughout the year.

Individual tickets for Richmond Civic Theatre range from $10 to $25 depending on the seat, date and show chosen. Single tickets go on sale a few weeks before each production.
Discounted season flex ticket packages are now available for adults ($133) and families with children 12/younger ($308) or 13/older ($448).
Additional season discounts are available for students with ID and seniors 65-plus ($106).
