Competition seasons are winding down for Indiana percussion ensembles and area winter guards that compete in an Ohio association.

Hagerstown’s percussionists excelled in their state finals on Saturday, March 21, while Northeastern’s color guard finals will be Saturday, March 28.

Henry County Crimson Percussion finished third in Percussion Independent A.

New Castle finished eighth in the Percussion Scholastic Concert Open division.

MEPA contests

Northeastern High School’s Damsels and Winchester’s winter guard returned to Mid East Performance Association’s contest season on Saturday, March 21, at Hamilton (Ohio) High School.

The Damsels finished ninth and the Falcons finished sixth.

They were among 17 Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky schools competing in Scholastic Regional A, along with nearby Eaton, Ohio, which finished 10th.

Their final contest of the season, the Color Guard Circuit Championships, take place Saturday, March 28, at Nutter Center in Fairborn, Ohio.

On March 21, Randolph Southern’s indoor percussion competed in Percussion Scholastic Concert A and finished second in its category.

Winchester and Randolph Southern are both scheduled to compete in the Percussion & Winds Circuit Championships on Sunday, March 29, also at Nutter Center.
