The Northeastern football team traveled to Middletown on Friday, Oct. 24, to open postseason play against the Shenandoah Raiders.
It was a rematch of an Oct. 3 regular-season game when the Raiders scored in the final seconds to give the Knights their only loss of the year in a high-scoring 50-43 shootout.
The Knights avenged that loss last week by handing the Raiders a convincing 34-7 defeat to end the Raiders’ season. The Knights controlled the game from the opening kick, building a 21-0 lead by halftime and outscoring the Raiders 13-7 in the second half. The Knights’ defense, who gave up 50 points in the first meeting of the teams, were an iron wall on Friday.

The Knights are frequently a pass-first team, and used an effective ground game to keep the ball out of the Raiders’ hands. The Knights ran 60 plays during the game, holding the Raiders to only 40.
Knights quarterback Marshall Phillips passed for 48 yards and ran for 130 yards and three touchdowns. Phillips also kicked four extra points. Trent Deloney rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown, and Dylan Ross rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown.
Charlie Shaffer was the leading tackler for the Knights with 11, Gavin Harrison had ten, Phillips had nine and Dakota May added eight.
The Knights will travel to Fairland on Friday, Oct. 31, for a sectional semi-final round game with Triton Central, members of the Hoosier Legends Conference. Both teams will enter the game with 9-1 records.
