In the next three years, Centerville-Abington Community Schools hopes to accomplish several facilities repairs, some of which residents might notice.
Those projects include repairing and resurfacing all parking lots ($450,000) and replacing Centerville-Abington Elementary’s roof ($200,000), Centerville Senior High School’s football press box ($195,000) and district maintenance vehicles ($120,000).
Additional capital project plan ideas with a $100,000 price tag each include repairing or replacing a kitchen freezer and other kitchen equipment, painting all outside building trim, and technology infrastructure. Replacing a minivan would be $40,000 and concrete work would be $15,000.
No one spoke during the Sept. 24 public hearing during the school board meeting that included the capital projects and school bus replacement plans.
CACS plans to replace two buses per year through 2030 for an estimated $154,000 for each large bus and $100,000 per small bus.
Budgets for the education, debt service, rainy day and operations funds, and tax rates were also discussed. The four budgets are estimated at a combined $26,287,431.
Budget-related documents can be viewed on Indiana Gateway’s website at budgetnotices.in.gov.
CACS plans to adopt the budgets for state review at its next meeting, which is 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the administration building, 115 W. South St., Centerville. The public is invited.
