The Centerville Lady Bulldogs opened their volleyball season on Saturday, Aug. 16, by hosting a round-robin match involving Centerville, Franklin County, Richmond and South Adams.
The event was well attended, and fans got their first glance at two-time defending Wayne County Champion Centerville and the Richmond Red Devils with their new coach.
South Adams was the eventual champion, sweeping each of the other teams 2-0 in head-to-head competition. The Lady Starfires, members of the Allen County Conference, have won 27 or more matches in each of the last four seasons.
The same four teams also held a junior varsity competition, with South Adams winning.
The match between Centerville and Richmond went to Richmond in two sets.
