Fifteen years of successful teaching equals an award for a Centerville-Abington Community Schools math teacher.

CACS board members recognized Matthew Lung at their June 4 meeting as the district’s teacher of the year.

Lung began teaching at Centerville Senior High School in 2010 and has led a variety of classes such as pre-algebra, algebra 1 & 2, geometry and geometry honors, and dual credit pre-calculus and trigonometry.

He earned a bachelor’s in math education from Indiana State University and a master’s in math education from Ball State University.

Two seniors have selected Lung through the Indiana Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition program. He also has been named an Indiana Academic All-Star teacher.
