Over 500 area residents gathered in Elstro Plaza in Richmond on Saturday, June 14, for a “No Kings” rally.

The event was part of a nationwide series of protests held the same day, expressing concern about the Trump administration’s policies and actions that participants say are authoritarian and harmful to democracy.

Organized by the nonpartisan group Wayne County Indivisible, the local rally was peaceful and featured speakers encouraging the crowd to engage with what’s happening at the federal, state and local levels and to take action to help make the community more safe and welcoming for all.
