Richmond High School senior Owen Fowler is going to the state finals on Friday, Feb. 28, and Saturday, March 1 to compete in two events, and he is going in style.

Fowler won both the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle at the New Palestine sectional on Saturday, Feb. 22, to qualify, shattering the RHS and sectional record in both events. Fowler won the 50 freestyle in a time of 20.49, eclipsing the old sectional record of 20.57, and then won the 100 freestyle in a time of 45.69, breaking the old sectional record of 45.75. 

Fowler will be joined at the state meet by senior Carter Ramsey from Hagerstown High School, who won the 500 freestyle; junior Devon Whaley from Centerville High School, who broke the Centerville record in winning the 100 backstroke; and the winning RHS 200 freestyle relay team of Braxten Whited, Layton Smith, Greyson Farmer and Fowler.
