Sun City, Ariz. – Jean Ann McGarvey, age 92, formerly of Richmond, Indiana, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020.

Born November 1, 1927, in Richmond, Indiana, to Roy and Mary Luring Campbell, Jean lived in Richmond most of her life, but also lived in Arizona. She was a 1945 graduate of Richmond High School. Jean was an interior decorator for Scottsdale Shadows in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Sun Lakes of Arizona. She was a member of LifeSpring Church in Richmond and Psi Iota Xi Sorority. Jean enjoyed playing bridge and bingo. Her favorite activity was spending time with her family, sister, dogs, and, as a child, horses. George and Gracie, Jean’s beloved dogs, were her constant companions.

Survivors include her children, Ann (Dee) Campbell and Marc (Alice) McGarvey, both of Arizona and Jane (Frank) Nevers of Indianapolis, Indiana; granddaughters, Jennifer (Martin) Hernandez of Cary, North Carolina, and SarahKate Chamness of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren, Madison, Mia, and Alex Hernandez of Cary; nieces, Cheryl Petty Prentice and Janet Petty Elstro; great-nieces and great-nephews; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. McGarvey, who died in 2002; son, Tom McGarvey, who died in 2018; parents; sister, Carolyn Bader; and nephew, David Petty.

Memorial service for Jean Ann McGarvey will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond, with Chaplain Rick Alvey officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
