The Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County recognized community members and organizations for their support during 2024.
Those receiving awards during the Jan. 21 dinner at Forest Hills Country Club were:
- Tracie Robinson, Bob Rosa President’s Award;
- Ann Herrman and Cindy Haworth, Volunteer of the Year;
- Tammie Hughes, Stacey Steele Service & Devotion Employee of the Year;
- Primex Plastics, Earl & Kathryn Mayer Award;
- Brandi Jackson, Rookie Board Member of the Year;
- Adam Forrest, Board Member of the Year;
- Sam Witherby, Richard E. Jeffers Legacy Award;
- Monica Koechlein, Champion of Youth Award; and
- Gary Kleer, Game Changer Award.
Khalia, the club’s 2024 Youth of the Year, shared her club journey for attendees.
“I have had the opportunity to share my story, which includes how the Club has positively impacted my life, to thousands this year,” Khalia said. “From competing locally and at the state level with peers for this honor, to speaking at the Smart Futures dinner, Kiwanis meetings, to — one of my most favorite — sharing my story with club members. From these opportunities I have increased my self-confidence, met so many new, incredible people and know that I am on the right path for a great future.”
New board members Becky Dimick Eastman, Sarah French and Emily Schaeffer were welcomed by club leadership. Jeff Logue, the board president, shared remarks, and Debra Edelman, the trustee president, provided a Board of Trustees update.
Club members Alaunna, Trace, Nolan, Smith and Olamide and the Community Choristers entertained.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County serves more than 2,000 youth ages 6 to 18 at six locations with the mission of inspiring them to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
