A few weeks after changing traffic lights at two busy Richmond intersections, Indiana Department of Transportation officials are planning four more changes at existing signals in early December.
On or after Tuesday, Dec. 3, crews are changing the existing traffic signals at Richmond intersections of U.S. 40 eastbound/Main Street and 13th and 15th streets, U.S. 40 westbound/North A and 11th Street, and U.S. 40 and Toschlog Road.
Motorists on U.S. 40 won’t have to stop at these intersections, but they should exercise caution and be vigilant for cross traffic.
Motorists on 11th, 13th and 15th streets and Toschlog Road will be required to make a complete stop before entering the intersection.
INDOT will monitor the new signal changes to ensure traffic flows safely and efficiently. This is a trial period to determine if the traffic signals at these intersections should be permanently removed to increase the efficiency of the traffic flow on U.S. 40.
In October, INDOT began changing the existing traffic signals at the U.S. 40 (Main Street) and 12th Street and U.S. 40 (North A) and 12th Street intersections.
Motorists on 12th must make a complete stop before entering the intersection, while U.S. 40 (Main and North A) are through traffic that doesn’t stop.
