Law enforcement was called to a fuel station after upset customers reported damage to their vehicles from the gas they’d just purchased.
Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Alan Moore said the Marathon station on U.S. 27 in Fountain City shut down its fuel pumps Wednesday, Oct. 2, because of an issue with the fuel.
Moore said WCSO became involved after some customers entered and told the worker the gas was bad, and the worker wanted them to leave.
WCSO was told that several vehicles had to be towed because of the bad gas, Moore said.
A photo posted on social media showed a red tag dated Oct. 2 from Indiana State Department of Health’s Division of Weights and Measures on a pump noting it was “Condemned until repaired and sealed” because of water.
“This is to certify that this instrument has been tested and found to be incorrect and its use is hereby forbidden until it has been corrected,” the tag read.
