Northeastern Wayne School Corp. celebrated seven retirees who have devoted a combined 209 years of public service. 

They are:

  • Scott Johnson — Northeastern Wayne High School teacher, 39 years
  • Janel Wetzel — Northeastern Wayne Middle School teacher, 33 years
  • Rhonda Toschlog — Northeastern Wayne Schools food service, 21 years
  • Bev King — Northeastern Wayne Early Learning Center teacher, 19 years
  • Teresa Carson — Northeastern Elementary School teacher’s assistant, 17 years
  • Officer Ken Powell was recognized for a total of 38 years of public service. Powell previously worked 27 years as an officer and detective for Richmond Police Department, three years as security resource officer for Richmond Community Schools and 8 years as security resource officer for Northeastern. 
  • Gerry Keesling spent 42 years working with students, athletes and schools. He previously spent six years as athletic director for Hagerstown schools, 21 years as Earlham College football coach, one year as science teacher and football coach for Centerville-Abington schools, eight years as science teacher and football coach at Wes-Del School, then six years as athletic director for Northeastern.
