Steven “Skeeter” Mikel, 50, of New Castle passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019, of natural causes following an extended illness. He was born June 5, 1969 in New Castle, a son of Larry Mikel and the late Sue (Asberry) Michael.
A 1988 graduate of Tri High School, he played football and wrestled, and was Tri’s first Homecoming King. He was a supervisor for Metal Powder Coating in Muncie for several years.
His survivors include his father, Larry (Janet) Mikel of New Castle; a brother, Scott Mikel of New Castle; two sisters, Sabrina (Randy) Sidwell of Spiceland, and Heather (Karen) Mikel of Indianapolis; his companion, Darlene Jordan of Alexandria, her children, Brandy Walker, Jessica Southard, and Jeremy Jordan; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and many close family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sue Michael; step mother, Pat Mikel; his maternal and paternal grandparents, and Cody Jordan.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. Sunday with Randy Sidwell officiating.
