David “Dave” Allen Cooksey, 79, passed away surrounded by his loving family at his residence in Franklin on December 11, 2019.
Dave was born on June 25, 1940 in Dublin, Indiana, to Robert and Dorothy Cooksey. He married Ruby (Jaggers) Cooksey on October 1, 1966. She preceded him in passing on November 16, 2016.
He is survived by his daughter, Vicki (Gary) Reese; grandchildren, Nichole, Lindsey (Mark), Alexis, Morgan, Kaden, Blake, Brooklyn, Braely, and Sebastian; and brother, John “Bob” (Sue) Cooksey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in passing by his parents, wife Ruby, and sister, Mary Lou.
Dave was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was an avid member of the Franklin American Legion, Post 205.
He retired from Allison Transmission in Indianapolis after many years of dedicated service.
Dave enjoyed woodworking. He spent much of his time with his family, often times traveling with his wife and grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family has entrusted services with Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Franklin American Legion, Post 205 at 1200 Park Avenue Franklin, Indiana 46131.
