Artists from Wayne and surrounding counties are well represented in Richmond Art Museum’s 125th Annual Exhibit by Indiana and Ohio Artists.

In their jurors’ statement, Carol Ann Carter and Greg Hull said they were impressed by the caliber of work that was submitted for the show that has “not only stood the test of time but that has continued to inspire and engage audiences for an impressive 125 years.”

“We selected works that demonstrate skill, thoughtful observation or attention to subject matter, risk, exploration, compositional coherence (clarity), across diverse genres,” they wrote.

Shirley Wise of Richmond won awards for her “Blue Spiral” fabric creation and her mixed media “Vinney’s Wine Patch.” Supplied

The exhibit drew entries from small and large communities throughout the two states. Entries range from photography to blown glass, fabric, watercolor, oil, colored pencil, mixed media, acrylic, pastel, shallow relief wood, photo transfer on fabric, charcoal, sculpture, woodcut print and ink.

Nashville, Indiana, artist Allen Hutton won the $5,000 Sarah and John Lechleiter Best of Show Award for his oil landscape painting “Golden Hour.”

Many of the works are for sale, ranging from $75 to $6,000.

“Cluckers” by Sally Alexander of Richmond won a merit award. Supplied

RAM is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays through Dec. 23 on the northern edge of Richmond High School at 350 Hub Etchison Parkway, Richmond.

The museum will reopen Jan. 2, and the exhibit closes Jan. 6.
