Hoping to keep the Jubilee Days festival alive, the Nettle Creek Lions Club is inviting Hagerstown-area organizations and residents to help run it. A public planning meeting for the 2024 festival is planned Tuesday.

The Lions Club has too few members to continue organizing and carrying out the annual summer festival, said Robin Nugent, club president.

The club of about six active members hopes that other organizations and individuals will take over running parts of Jubilee Days. While the club would continue some activities, they want others to take on others and add new activities.

The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the Red Man lodge building, 101 E. Main St. Anyone interested may attend.

The Hagerstown Lions Club organized Jubilee Days starting about 70 years ago. Nettle Creek Lions Club took over in the early 2000s when the Hagerstown club went out of business. It’s on the third weekend in August.
