George Alan Nester, 67, went to his Heavenly home on Saturday, August 12th. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and “George”. He was born on March 23, 1956 to Bernard Randall and Pauline (Teel) Nester in Connersville, Indiana. George married Lu Ann Isaacs on July 7, 1979 at Connersville Baptist Temple. Together they were blessed with two girls and five grandsons.
George dedicated 38 years of faithful service to Connersville Baptist Temple. Over the years, he fulfilled many roles including maintaining buildings and grounds, running the sound board, and being a support to all who have held positions within the church. He was ordained in 2004. George enjoyed teaching his adult Sunday school class, he loved his Saturday morning men’s prayer group, and he graciously filled the pulpit whenever asked. To the members of CBT, George was a steady presence and a loyal friend to all.
George was an avid studier of the Bible, he loved Ford motor vehicles, and he often visited the mountains of West Virginia. He learned a love of raising tomatoes from his dad and proudly grew Mr. Stripey plants. He enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Steelers, Mountaineers, and The Clemson Tigers. George was a strong advocate for all Spartan Athletics. He was constantly seen wearing Spartan gear.
George and Lu spent most of their recent time together cheering on their grandsons at their sporting events. They loved watching Carter break the 400×1 record twice, seeing Kolton pitch in the Sectional Championship, watching Cooper score his first soccer goal, seeing Kaden play goalie, and watching Mac hit a double in his 1st baseball game. In their free time, they enjoyed just being together. They spent time taking rides to Whitewater, eating at J’s, and serving together in the ministry at CBT. George loved being his girls go-to. He loved his daily chats, making the girls laugh, and being the calm in any situation.
He is survived by his mother, Pauline; wife, Lu Ann; daughters, Kara (Clayton) DeBoard and Rebekah Ashley (Gary) Cerqua; grandsons, Carter DeBoard, Kolton DeBoard, Cooper DeBoard, Kaden DeBoard, and Mac Cerqua; brother, Leslie (Donna) Nester; sister-in-law, Lori (Tim) McFarland; brother-in-law Jeff Isaacs; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his dad; two infant sisters, Lillian and Sharon Nester; father and mother-in-law, Vernon and Judy Isaacs; a niece, Jennifer Isaacs; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2023 at Connersville Baptist Temple. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Joe Ferreira, Dr. Randall Collins, and Doug Kaler officiating. Burial will be in Village Creek Cemetery. Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nester family in honor of George Nester to be used for a future graduating Spartan.
