Steven C. Lowder, 75, of New Castle passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Indiana University Health- Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 20, 1947 in Henry County to the late William and Dorothy (Haggerty) Lowder.
Steven was employed at Western Products in New Castle and retired from Precision Mold and Tool where he was a tool maker. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, rafting, and boating. Steven was an avid woodworker and made a variety of items including gun stocks. He collected fly rods, guns, and knives. One of his favorite places to visit was Summit Lake State Park.
Survivors include a son, Steven (Erin) Lowder, II of Menifee, California; step-children, Robin (Kyle) Dishman of Troy, Ohio and David (Robin) Wilson of Kenosha, Wisconsin; grandsons, Tyler and Austin Lowder; brother, David (Joy) Lowder of Straughn; several nieces and nephews and extended family; close friend, Sharon Benedict of Cambridge City; cousin, Jim Morse of Anderson; best friend Jim Gebhart of Hagerstown.
A celebration of life will be held at 5:00 pm Friday, March 17, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Anthony Darling officiating. Burial will take place at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by a contingent of the U.S. Army, the American Legion and the VFW. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
