Everett Daniel Cox (Dan), 86 of Richmond Indiana passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 1, 2023. He was born November 17, 1936, in Richmond Indiana to Everett B. and Clarabell (Fosnot) Cox.
Dan was a Korean War Army Veteran (PFC) and a retired banker of 40+ years.
Dan was an avid sports fan, basketball and baseball being his favorites. Alongside his daughter, he taught both his granddaughters to play basketball and was heavily involved with their teams. He and his wife were huge supporters of Purdue (son’s ala mater) and went to as many basketball games (men’s and women’s) as they could and even some March Madness games. Up until his passing, he would not miss watching a game and shared his love with everyone.
He was involved with his grandson and son-in-law’s baseball and was a big Cincinnati Reds Fan. Dan enjoyed traveling and visiting many different ballparks to watch MLB games.
Dan had a love for travel and just like his wife his favorite place to visit was Yellowstone National Park. He enjoyed taking his oldest granddaughter and grandson on many trips around the country.
He loved being a grandfather and he and his wife never missed a sporting event, a recital, a school function, a Horse show a birthday, or any other special occasion.
Dan loved his family, his country, and God. He will be deeply missed but his family is at peace knowing he is now reunited with his wife and his Heavenly Father.
Dan is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Sha Cox (Nov 2022). He is survived by his two children Todd Alan Cox and Lisa Sha (Troy) Forkner, as well as his three grandchildren Courtney Sha (Andrew) Hopkins, Adam Miles Daniel Forkner, and Abby Sha Forkner. As well as many close friends.
Funeral Services will be on February 5, 2023, with calling from 12 pm-1:30 pm followed by services at 1:30 pm at in the Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Chapel 222 North 10th Street Richmond IN with Pastor Paul Nichols officiating.
