Marvin L. Brown, age 84 of New Paris, OH died Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, IN.
Born on July 4, 1935 in New Castle, Henry County, Indiana, he was the son of the late Byron H. & Mary E. (Mikesell) Brown. Marvin was a 1953 Jefferson High School graduate and served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He retired in 1986 from Eaton Gear in Richmond, IN after 24 years of service and was a custodian at National Trail School for 5 years.
Member of the New Paris American Legion, New Paris Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton and the Antioch Temple of Dayton. He and his wife enjoyed camping, traveling and frequent trips to Las Vegas. He was a kindhearted animal lover and had a gift for storytelling with an infectious laugh.
Preceded in death by his brother: Jack E. Brown in 1990 and sister: Marilyn Began in 2008.
Survived by his wife of 60 years: Linda (Mullins) Brown; daughters & sons-in-law: Julie & Bill Byrd of Tennessee and Jackie & Gary Schmitt of Columbus, OH; grandchildren: Sandra Zunk and Alex Schmitt; sisters: Jo Haisley of Indianapolis, IN; Linda Rockhill, Shirley Cornwell and Betty Fleshman all of Florida.
Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Barnes Funeral Home 109 West Main Street, New Paris, OH. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Rodney Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris will military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
