Mr. James M. Scott, Jr., age 87, passed away on Tuesday morning, December 20, in the comfort of his home.
Mr. Scott was born in Randolph County, Indiana on November 17, 1935 to James M., Sr. & Rev. Thelma Lois Pilcher Scott.
Mr. Scott was a retired carpenter and a member of the First Baptist Church in Richmond. He was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran and held Life Membership in Post 1108, Veterans of Foreign Wars; Whitewater Valley Marine Corps League and Harry Ray Post 65, American Legion. He enjoyed spending time fishing.
Mr. Scott is survived by his daughter, Ramona (Rod) Fogarty; sons, James S. (Bridgette) Scott, Robert A. Scott and Michael J. (Michelle) Scott; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon (James) Funkhouser and Cathy Kildow; brothers, Jerry (Carol) Scott and Ronald (Judy) Scott; nieces & nephews.
Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Evelyn C. Scott, and brother, David L. Scott.
A memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 am–1:00 pm on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, followed by military rites by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery.
