A homegrown furniture business is offering more options with an additional location in Richmond. Roger Richert’s Richmond Furniture East now occupies the 60,000-square-foot building at 4741 National Road E. The Richmond Bargain Center occupied the space for the last decade. Richert came out of semi-retirement to open the addition after Thanksgiving.
“It’s all different furniture. If you see it, like it, you can take it home today,” Richert said. Richmond Furniture East is open seven days a week: Mon.-Sat. 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and noon-5 p.m. on Sundays.
Traveling west, shoppers will find construction inside what was the Office Max building at 3801 National Road. According to a Jan. 20 Carra Builders Commercial Construction Company’s social media post, work is underway for Ashley Furniture to occupy the 22,000 sq. ft. space.
Another empty storefront at 1515 E. Main St. is being prepped to house a new Dollar Tree. The company is currently hiring part-time associates. The discount store replaces a CVS Pharmacy that closed in March 2025.
As these new ventures begin, one ends as fast-food Italian restaurant Fazoli’s, 4711 National Road E. in Richmond, closed permanently on Feb. 24. Long known for its pizza, pasta and breadsticks, its parent company, FAT Brands Inc., said it closed as part of the company’s overall strategy.
“The closure was part of our ongoing evaluation of locations, financial performance and overall brand strategy,” said Erin Mandzik, FAT Brands senior director of corporate communications.
