A Milton man was flown to a regional hospital with serious injuries after his car collided with a semi on Indiana 1.

On Thursday afternoon, Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle crash with entrapment at the intersection of Beeson Station Road and Indiana 1.

Their initial investigation indicates that Luke Suttles, 39, was traveling northbound in a 2015 Acura TLX.

As Suttles approached Beeson Station Road, he attempted to pass a northbound 1999 International truck operated by Benjamin McFall, 28, of Falmouth, according to a news release from Wayne County Sheriff Randy Retter.

As Suttles began to pass, McFall started to turn left, or west, onto Beeson Station Road. Suttles then returned to the northbound lane of Indiana 1 and struck the rear of the semi, Retter said.

Suttles sustained serious injuries in the crash and was flown from the scene by CareFlight medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

McFall was taken to Reid Health in Richmond for a routine investigation after a crash involving commercial motor vehicles. The crash remains under investigation, Retter said.

Assistance came from Wayne County Emergency Communications, Cambridge City, Hagerstown and Connersville police departments, Milton Fire Department, Richmond Fire Department Drone Team, Fayette County EMS, Reid EMS and Trauma Service, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and Englewood Towing.
