One man was transferred to a Dayton, Ohio, hospital after a Saturday night (Feb. 2) shooting in Richmond that has already resulted in an arrest.
Richmond Police Department’s second-shift officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 900 block of Sheridan Street in Richmond.
When on scene, officers located both a victim of the shooting and a suspect in the backyard of the residence, according to a news release from Lt. James Doll of RPD’s Investigative Service Division.
Investigators processed the scene and conducted interviews, learning that the victim was visiting the suspect’s residence, Doll said.
The shooting victim, Bryan Orr, 38, of Richmond, was transported to Reid Health in Richmond and then later transferred to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.
Police identified the suspect as Rico Lamar Lewis, 44, of Richmond. Lewis was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery, a Level 3 felony, shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, according to Wayne County Jail records.
After his arrest, Lewis was lodged in the Wayne County Jail, and was released shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday.
