Holly Hancock of Northeastern won Best of Show for mosaic sculpture “Untitled (Fired and Fried Employees).” Supplied by Lance Crow/Richmond Art Museum

Northeastern, Seton Catholic and Richmond students took home this year’s top prizes in an art show featuring works from teens all over the county.

Works by students from Lincoln, Hagerstown and Centerville high schools also are represented in Richmond Art Museum’s 18th annual All Wayne County High School Art Exhibition.

The exhibit, which features sculptures, photos, ceramics, prints, paintings, computer-generated art, drawings and mixed media, is open through May 18. The galleries are on the northern end of Richmond High School.

Museum staff aim to showcase the work of high school artists and promote appreciation and study of fine art among young people. They also aim to attract visitors from around the county to the regional professional museum that doesn’t charge admission.

Northeastern’s Holly Hancock won Best of Show for “Untitled (Fired and Fried Employees).” Second went to Fabian Aleman of Seton Catholic for “Post Meridian.” Third went to Marcy Hartman of Richmond High School for “The Empress.”

Several students had more than one work accepted. A few won two awards in one category or placed in multiple categories.

The exhibit is open to all students enrolled in a high school program (public, private, or home-schooled). Artwork must be submitted for consideration by teachers on behalf of their students, and must have been completed during the current academic year.

The juried exhibit offers non-monetary awards in 10 categories.
