Construction progresses on a new Well Care Community Health building that will provide increased capacity to serve community health care needs.

Well Care expects to occupy the new facility at 2200 W. Main St. early in 2026, according to a news release. The facility will enable Well Care to serve more patients while still removing barriers to medical, dental and behavioral care for all community members, regardless of ability to pay.

“This new location will allow us to expand our services, reduce wait times and create an even more welcoming environment for the families who depend on us for their healthcare needs,” said Eric Coulter, Well Care’s CEO.

Well Care began as the Wayne County Community Health Center, a collaboration with Wayne County government. Complications related to grant funding and sharing resources with the county’s health department led to a 2019 split, with the Wayne County Health Department moving in early 2020 to its 100 S. Fifth St. location. The newly named Well Care continued at the previous 203 E. Main St. site, renting the building from the county.

With space issues impacting the health department, the county commissioners notified Well Care the county would not enter a new lease with Well Care once the current agreement expires.

With its move, Well Care will enjoy expanded clinical space, enhanced technology capabilities and improved accessibility features, the release said.

Well Care has expanded since the split, serving 10,000 patients annually across five Indiana locations. Its dental services are also consolidating and expanding at its Centerville location, 100 Mattie Harris Road.

All residents are eligible for the medical, behavioral, dental and specialized programs Well Care provides. Well Care offers sliding-scale payment options, accepts all insurances, provides Spanish interpretation and offers transportation assistance. The new location is near an existing bus stop on Roseview Transit’s Route 4, and gas cards and bus vouchers will still be offered.

Care is available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with walk-ins accepted 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dental care is available from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Call 765-973-9294 or visit mywellcare.org for information about becoming a patient or to schedule an appointment.
