Richmond High School students interested in media will benefit from a new partnership between Richmond Community Schools and Whitewater Community Television. The two-year collaboration houses WCTV in RHS’s career center and offers internship and mentorship opportunities while enhancing RHS’s existing radio and television studies program.
“This partnership will enhance our Radio/TV program and provide students with valuable hands-on experience in media production,” said Curtis Wright, superintendent of Richmond Community Schools, in a news release. “By bringing WCTV back to RHS — its founding location — we are creating real pathways for students interested in communications and technology careers.”
WCTV will offer two to four part-time student intern positions as part of work-based learning components mandated by the Indiana Department of Education’s Pathways Diploma.
“We’re excited to expand our community service mission while providing meaningful training opportunities for students,” said Eric Marsh, executive director of WCTV, in the release. “Students have been part of WCTV since its inception. We are excited to return home and assist in creating a stronger media education program for students. We believe this will open even more storytelling opportunities for our community.”
The partnership runs through Sep. 30, 2027, with potential for renewal.
