Ten Richmond Fire Department members will become certified in surface water rescue through a Greenwood-based company.
During a Sept. 17 meeting, the Richmond Board of Public Works and Safety approved a $6,000 contract with Advanced Rescue Solutions to provide the course that includes hands-on skill sessions.
The fire department also received board approval of a $9,450 contract with Reeves Manufacturing of Richmond to repair the live-burn tower located at the Israel “Izzy” David Edelman Police and Fire Training and Physical Fitness Center at 1740 S. Eighth St.
The board approved a revised contract with TargetSolutions Learning of Tampa, Florida, to provide online training for fire department members. The previous contract was rescinded when the vendor noticed two pages of an exhibit were missing and TargetSolutions wanted to include master software as a service agreement.
The price remains $11,271 for the three-year contract’s first year, with cost increases limited to 5% for the second and third years.
AP Construction received board permission to close three parking spaces in front of 801-807 E. Main St. The spaces would close as needed for rolloff trash receptacles and deliveries throughout the yearlong renovation project.
The board approved a Sept. 21 start for Whisenhunt Construction to close the 900 block of East Main Street while tuck pointing bricks on 930 E. Main St. The closure was originally approved to begin Sept. 15.
Whisenhunt expects to close the block only when it works for three weeks. The barriers will be removed between 3:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
