At least four organizations are offering Valentine-related fundraisers or promotions in February.
- As part of Library Lover’s Month, Hagerstown Public Library aims to show love to local businesses. Throughout the month, patrons can show receipts from Hagerstown businesses to library staff at 10 W. College St. They’ll be entered in a drawing to win $50 in local gift certificates.
- HELP the Animals is offering its Paws for Love campaign at local businesses throughout the month. Donors can give $1 or more to put their name on a pink paper paw for displays. Funds go toward medical care for illness, injuries and spay/neuter for homeless dogs and cats. Businesses that would like to participate can contact shelter officials at info@helptheanimals.com or 765-962-6811.
- Cope Environmental Center is offering a discount throughout the month in its gift shop. When buying two unique eco-friendly gifts at 1730 Airport Road in Centerville, the second will be half price. Sales benefit environmental education.
- Animal Care Alliance has created a Valentine’s selfie booth for cats, dogs and owners at its clinic, 1353 Abington Pike, Richmond. The cost to participate is a donation of paper towels, money or canned cat or dog food. The booth is available between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays. Its ending date is uncertain. ACA also will name a feral cat after a donor’s former romantic partner for a $50 gift to its community cat program. Several animal programs around the country are offering similar neuter/spay fundraisers this year. For more information, drop in or call 765-488-2444.
Nonprofits can send information about their programs and events to contact@westernwaynenews.com for publication consideration.
