Union High School, in Modoc, announced in a press release on Monday, Nov. 17, that they have canceled the remainder of their girls basketball season effective immediately.
The release, issued by Athletic Director Nick Pruitt, said in part, “It saddens me to say that Union will have to cancel our girls varsity basketball season this year. Not enough numbers or interest has led us to make this decision.”
The Lady Rockets opened their season on Wednesday, Nov. 5, with a 48-25 loss at Union City and have not played since.
The decision will impact the schedule of three Wayne County schools. The Lady Rockets had games scheduled with Lincoln (Dec. 5), Hagerstown (Jan. 23) and Centerville (Jan. 27).
