Eight community members will be honored at Townsend Community Center Inc.’s annual honor and awards banquet on June 27. The event will be held 6-9 p.m., at Elks Golf Course, 2100 U.S. Highway 27 South in Richmond.
The following honorees will be celebrated for positive impact and changes made to the community: K. Lee Moore — Distinguished Gentlemen Award; Woodrow (Woody) Moore, Jr. — Distinguished Gentlemen Award; Kate Marie Deloney — Sophisticated Lady Award; Mary Wright — Education Excellence Award; RP&L’s Tony Foster — the Rancer Huntington Philanthropic Award; Buffalo Wild Wings’s Justin Hoober — Corporate Award; Richmond Elks #649 — Nonprofit Award; and Robert (Bobcat) Smith, Jr. — Overcomer Award.
Townsend continues honoring the legacy of Mamie L. Wright with its grant to assist homeowners with limited financial assistance for essential upgrade or improvements to their resident. The recipient will be announced at the banquet. Grant applications can be picked up at Townsend Community Center Inc., 300 N. 10th St., weekdays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Applications are due by noon Friday, May 29 at Townsend.
