The Hagerstown softball team, ranked 10th in the 2A state poll, opened its regular season on Thursday, April 2, with a road trip to Brookville to face Franklin County.
The Lady Tigers scored in every inning to overpower the Lady Wildcats 15-1 in a game that was halted after five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule. Already leading 8-0 entering the fifth inning, Hagerstown added seven runs in the top of the fifth inning to put the game out of reach.
Mackenzee Johnson paced the Tiger offense with four hits and four runs batted in. Coley Parrish collected three hits, and Sydney Dobbs and Addysyn Miller each had two hits. Dobbs was the winning pitcher; Payton Cones worked in relief. Izzy Stenger suffered the loss.
