Hagerstown sophomore August “Gus” Golliher was the lone Wayne County wrestler to advance to the state finals from the Feb. 14 semi-state. Golliher, who has accumulated a 40-9 record this season, qualified by capturing fourth place in the 150-pound weight class.

The top four wrestlers in each weight class from the North Montgomery, Pendleton Heights, Perry Meridian and Richmond regionals converged on the New Castle Fieldhouse to fight it out for the right to advance to the state meet, which will be held on Friday, Feb. 20, and Saturday, Feb. 21, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Only the top four finishers in each weight class advance to states, and the competition was fierce.
