Centerville’s boys basketball team has had their share of scheduling challenges this season, but put those behind them over the weekend for a win.

A December game scheduled with Parke Heritage was snowed out, and the two teams could not agree on a makeup date. They were to play sixth-ranked Bloomfield on Saturday, Feb. 21, but then Bloomfield canceled. The Bulldogs replaced Bloomfield with the Liberty Christian Lions, and met them on the Lions’ home floor in Anderson.

It was the first-ever meeting between the two ranked teams. The Bulldogs entered the game ranked fifth in the 2A poll. The Lions entered the game as the eighth-ranked team in the 1A poll.

The game was close throughout. The teams were tied at 14-14 at the end of the first quarter before the Bulldogs took a 30-26 lead at halftime.

The Lions came back to tie the score at 47-47 entering the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs responded with a 26-point fourth quarter to take a 73-64 win.

The Bulldogs had great balance. Jace Hollendonner led with 19 points, Shea Hollendonner scored 17, Bryson Brown 15 and Landyn Keiser 14.

Kendrick Martin led the Lions with 19 points. Kamaries Allen added 15 points on five made three-pointers. Monte Dillard Jr. scored 13 points.
